Ancient

There was a long howl as a new life slipped into the world.

A single heart beat was heard. One. One of an ancient.

A black wolf walked on the side of a road. There was a thick black collar around his neck. He mourned.For now,he was being tracked. Tracked by the Night. He remembered what had happened.

He was chasing a deer,when he heard a low roaring. He looked up in time to see a silver thread coming towards him. He put his head down and tried to run away. But he felt a sharp prick go through his skin. He started to slow den. The roaring was still above him. His instinct told him to keep running. But soon he paws collapsed beneath him,and he fell to the ground. Then all went black.

 Kolta woke up.he felt drained and tired. He looked around to see the roaring monster leaving.He growled.

"Good riddance. They cost me a deer."

He looked over his body. Making sure nothing was hurt on him. When he looked at his paws,he growled. His beautiful black/silver fur was gone. Revealing the mark that was there. There was a faint line of swirls. Kolta growled again. Knowing that his mark was better with his fur.

Kolta was a bachelor. He had no pack at the moment. He was born as a loner. His mother had died when he was born. He almost died too.

Kolta sat down and scratched his neck. He was annoyed by the black collar that symbolized captivity. His freedom was gone. He was now being tracked. And someday the Night would come back and killed him. Or take him away from the wild when they thought he was in danger. he knew all of this because one of his friends received the collar one day. And five Full Night's later,he was shot. And he never moved again.

Kolta has never been with another wolf since then. That day was 2 Full Night's ago.

Kolta walked along the forest tree line. Looking for a tree to take this collar off. He sighed. There were no trees that were rough enough. he sniffed the air. There was another wolf near by. His hopes went up. He sniffed again. It was a lone female. His tail went straight up and he bounded toward the female. He knew that she probably wouldn't stay with him. Because he was marked. he sighed, but kept on running towards the female.

He finally saw her. he howled, acknowledging himself. Her head snapped in his direction. He stopped in front of her. The female looked at him. She stared at his collar for a long time. Then moved on. When her eyes met his legs, she took a step back. he sighed. Knowing that it was his mark. he slowly turned around, and started to leave. He walked slowly away. Only to hear paw-steps following.

Kolta looked over his shoulder. The female was following him. Either she was stupid, or shedidn't mind the mark. Kolta guessed the first one.

"My name's Shi. I don't mind your mark. If that's what you think. I think wolves that are Ancient's are speical. They must be if they have the mark. you were chosen to save the wolf law. You're lucky."

Kolta stared at Shi. He was astonished.

"I-I'm Kolta. Thanks. I think...."

Kolta smiled and wagged his tail. he started to run away. He heard Shi following. That made him happier. He stopped at a small pond. he looked at himself. His silver/black fur billowed in the soft breeze. Shi stopped beside him. He looked at her reflection. her golden/borwn fur wrapped around her face. he looked back at himself. But this time there were words.

"The Wolf Law Kolta."

Kolta sighed. he had known why he was chosen, but he didn't want to do it. But he had to. He had known that it was him that was the cause of his friends death. But he didn't want to admit it. Kolta turned to Shi.

"Do you know which parts of the Wolf Law are falling apart?"

Shi nodded.

"The part of respect and passion. Where we shall respect others and love life. To say thanks for the spirit of the animal that gave it's life for us. Also the part of remembering who we are. And not turning into savages. You need to fix that, don't you?"

Kolta nodded. he already knew where to start. he would try to find every wolf he could find. Then remind them about the Wolf Law. Then he will tell them that there is no need to forget this, even thoguht the Night's are taking over. We will always be who we are. We don't have to change. Then he would shopw them his collar, and how it didn't change him. He would live life to the fullest.

"Come on Shi. I need your help if I am going to do this. I need you to find every wolf you can find. Then bring them back to me. I will be waiting and trying to find some wolves I know. I only hopes this works..."

Shi nodded and ran off, licking him before she went. Kolta looked back into the pool. He saw himself,the Wolf Law was whole again. He was holwing at the moon. His job was finished. It was his time to leave...

Kolta sighed. Someday, he hoped, this would happen....
